Under the Renegade's Hood
There are two different engine options available to lend their strength to the Jeep Renegade. The starting option is a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that offers 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The other option is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that can generate 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. While this engine is available at any trim level, it comes standard on Limited and Trailhawk models. The different engines each come with their own distinct transmission. The 1.4-liter engine comes with a six-speed manual transmission, while the 2.4-liter engine gets a nine-speed automatic. Most Renegade models come equipped with a front-wheel-drive system. The exception is the Trailhawk trim level that is designed for off-road driving and comes standard with an all-wheel-drive system. Every other trim has all-wheel-drive available to them as an optional feature. In addition to its alternative standard drivetrain, the Trailhawk comes with a variety of features that help to make it extra efficient in off-road environments. Some of its impressive abilities include, 8.1 inches of wheel articulation, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and the ability to ford waters with a maximum depth of 19 inches.
