There are new packages for the 2017 Jeep Cherokee. There is a Heavy-Duty Protection Group that has skid plates and a F/S spare tire and a Trailer Tow Prep Package that has a trailer-tow wiring harness, an auxiliary transmission oil cooler, HD engine cooling, and a F/S spare tire. The trim level Trailhawk has more options that are standard for the model like heated and ventilated front seats, power eight-way driver seat, heated steering wheel, power liftgate, Keyless Enter 'n Go, remote start system, universal garage door opener and more. A feature added to all trim levels is high-intensity discharge headlamps.
Under the Cherokee's Hood
The standard engine on all the trim levels is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 184 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. Another engine option is a 3.2-liter V6 that makes 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission is standard with both engines. There is a choice between front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive on both engines. The Trailhawk only comes in the four-wheel drive. The standard 4WD is the light-duty Active Drive I 4WD system. The other 4WD system is the Active Drive II system, which features low-range gearing and a locking rear differential along with an additional Rock mode for the Selec-Terrain dial. The fuel economy is up to 31 miles-per-gallon on the highway. There is an optional towing package on the V6 that can tow up to 4,500 lbs.
Design of Jeep Cherokee
There are five main trim level for the 2017 Cherokee: Sport, Latitude, Trailhawk, Limited and Overland. The Sport has things like 17-inch steel wheels, Bluetooth, a USB charge-only port, and a six-speaker audio system with a 5-inch touchscreen interface. The Latitude has alloy wheels, roof rails, foglights, a rearview camera, a folding front passenger seat with a storage compartment inside the seat cushion, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with built-in audio controls. The Trailhawk has an off-road theme with the Active Drive II and has slightly wider 17-inch wheels and all-terrain tires, increased ground clearance, off-road-oriented suspension tuning, a locking rear differential, and hill ascent and descent control. The Overland has 18-inch wheels, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path alert, a power liftgate, sound-deadening windshield and front windows, ventilated front seats, and a navigation system. There are features that are on the higher trims, that are available to add to the lower trim models. There are also different appearance packages like the 75th Anniversary package with a bronze exterior and tangerine interior accents. Other options that can be added are a towing package, a dual-pane sunroof, and a safety Tech package that has automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and lane-keeping assist, automatic wipers and the upgraded exterior mirrors, rear parking sensors and an automated parking system.
